Soekarno-Hatta Airport area still has remaining land of a total 1,800 hectares. Angkasa Pura II, as Soetta Airport operator, plans to build terminal 4 and logistics warehouse area in the area.
JAKARTA (infolog): Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the logistics warehouse at Soetta Airport is planned to be built on 25 hectares of land.
“There are logistics on 25 hectares of land in the Soetta M1 area near the bus line,” said Budi while reviewing the STIP Training ship at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, Sunday (7/1) as quoted by Kumparan.com as saying.
Budi admitted he did not know exactly when the logistics warehouse to begin. According to him, with so much development, land in the Soetta Airport area will be exhausted in the near future.
Asked about the expansion of Soetta Airport development with reclamation, Budi claimed the plan had not been discussed. “Not yet, there has been no discussion,” he said.
Previously, Senior Vice President & Corporate Secretary of AP II Agus Haryadi said Terminal 4 would be the last infrastructure to be built by AP II because the land is running out.
Terminal 4 plans to be built in 2020 after the Soewarna Golf Course rented out in 2019. Later, terminal 4 will have a capacity of up to 40 million passengers a year.
Today, Soetta Airport has three terminals with different passenger capacity per year. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 each can accommodate 9 million passengers. Meanwhile, Terminal 3 has a capacity of 25 million passengers.
By the end of 2017, the number of passengers at Sooekarno Airport has reached 63 million people. It needs revitalization to anticipate over capacity. (ac)
