Four members of the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) with a combined membership base of close to 6,000 – Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ILFA), Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders (FMFF), Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) and Thailand International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA) are signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to push the boundaries of ASEAN trade with Hive.
BANGKOK (infologistic): As global trade continues to grow across ASEAN and other regions, trade communities and businesses are acknowledging that there is a need for a platform that can accelerate the movement of goods across different borders.
Hive is a regional trade facilitation platform to facilitate and advance ASEAN trade by bringing the members of AFFA and other players in the trade and logistics industry together.
Powered by Global eTrade Services (GeTS), the hive platform provides online electronic data transmission and validation of Advance Manifest or declaration for submission to multiple Customs authorities worldwide.
The interconnectivity of the Hive platform makes trade more accessible, predictable and easier for freight forwarders associations’ members.
There are three main services for hive users – Partner Discovery Service, Trade Compliance Services and Members Management System. Partner Discovery Service is a social-media-like application that allows users to search and discover potential new partners, initiate communications, create connections and foster closer collaboration.
Various parties in the trade industry (i.e. freight forwarders, 3rd party logistics service providers, courier companies, traders and even supply chain IT solution providers) can also list their profiles, post their company events and receive notifications of potential leads.
Customs and Trade Compliance Services facilitate the fulfilment of trade compliance to various government authorities. This suite of services reduces complexities, compliance costs and data errors through data re-use.
Portal and Members Management System (MMS) assists member associations in management of their portals and members. It also allows them to send automated, customized circulars to their members.
“Hive is the platform that could bring the members of AFFA closer together. This is the first truly association-centric platform that allows ASEAN freight forwarders to easily establish closer and credible business partnerships with each other. The suite of trade compliance services add value to freight forwarders in fulfilling their cross-border trade compliance requirements to various government authorities.” said Mr Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi, Chairman of ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) in a release sent to Infologistic ID Sunday 7/2/2017.
“Through ‘hive’ our members can access cross border trade compliance services. In particular, within one single platform we can file advance manifests directly to customs authorities in Japan, Canada and the US.” said Ms Siti Ariyanti Adisoediro, Vice Chairman of Asosiasi Logistik dan Forwarder Indonesia or Indonesian Logistics & Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA).
“We are one of the first associations to be on- boarded onto ‘hive’. We believe the services offered on the ‘hive’ platform can bring real and tangible values to our members. Our members can search, discover and start communicating with potential partners in ASEAN using the Partner Discovery Service. This makes starting and building new partnerships easier with less risk and cost. Also, the trade compliance services on ‘hive’ can help our members meet regulatory and compliance requirements better.” said Mr Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, President of Thailand International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA).
“Our participation in ‘hive’ program will definitely benefit the members of our Association. Our members can now discover credible freight forwarding partners in the region quickly and easily. It also helps them generate leads that could help grow their cross border businesses.” said Mr Alvin Chua, President of Federation of Malaysia Freight Forwarders (FMFF).
In cross-border trade, businesses need to establish partnerships with counterparts overseas. The social-media-like Partner Discovery Service on ‘Hive’ allows SLA members to elevate their visibility through listing and advertisement. Businesses in the region can easily cross-search and establish credible partnership. SLA is therefore glad to be one of the main drivers of ‘Hive’ platform.” said Mr Stanley Lim, Chairman of Singapore Logistics Association (SLA).
“This is a great milestone for GeTS as we now have strategic partners from the ASEAN logistics community coming on board to support the hive initiative. This partnership is a strong endorsement of our technology and platform to enhance global connectivity. Through the hive initiative powered by GeTS’ technology, we can expect higher cross border multi-countries trade in ASEAN to increase. It will provide a more accessible, predictable and easier platform for businesses to trade within ASEAN.” said Mr Chong Kok Keong, CEO at
Global eTrade Services (GeTS).
